EAM Jaishankar in the US: Key Meetings and Insights

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio shortly after Rubio assumed office. During their first bilateral meeting, they exchanged views on a wide range of regional and global issues and reviewed the extensive bilateral partnership between India and the United States.

Jaishankar shared photos of the meeting on the social media platform X, expressing his delight in meeting Rubio. "Honored to hold the first bilateral meeting with @secrubio following his assumption of office. Reviewed our strong bilateral partnership, for which @secrubio has been a staunch advocate," Jaishankar wrote. He further noted their discussions on regional and global matters and emphasized the commitment to advancing strategic cooperation.

Earlier, Jaishankar highlighted the success of the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Washington, DC. In a post on X, he thanked Secretary Rubio for hosting the event and acknowledged the participation of Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japan's Takeshi Iwaya.

He described the meeting as significant, occurring shortly after the Trump Administration's inauguration, and noted that the discussions focused on ensuring a free, open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific. "This underscores the priority of the Indo-Pacific in the foreign policies of member nations. Agreed on the importance of broadening the agenda, deepening collaboration, and maintaining the Quad as a force for global good," Jaishankar added.

In another engagement, Jaishankar met US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz to discuss strengthening bilateral ties. He shared on X, "A pleasure meeting NSA @michaelgwaltz. We discussed bolstering our friendship for mutual benefit and advancing global stability and prosperity."

The QUAD, comprising India, Australia, Japan, and the United States, is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and resilient Indo-Pacific region.

Additionally, Jaishankar attended the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States, where he represented India among global leaders and dignitaries. Speaking on the event, he expressed it was a "great honor" to participate in the ceremony
